It's the first day of school here in New York, and the unofficial end of summer. With autumn on the horizon and chilly days ahead, I'm packing away all the tank tops and shorts and filling the closets with long sleeves and sweaters. I'll miss my sandals for the next several months, but I have to admit, I love boot weather.
This goes for my little farmgirl as well. She just loves her new faux suede black fringe ankle boots and they look so cute with her wardrobe. In fact, these pint size cowgirl boots look adorable with the cotton dresses that have become my best seller at local markets. If you bought one this summer, don't pack it away with the summer clothes! The dresses I handcraft are four-season pieces. Here's how:
Summer: Wear as a dress with sandals or barefoot in the grass.
Fall: Layer with long sleeve tees and leggings or tights.
Winter: Just add a cardigan to the fall outfit!
Spring: Wear as a tunic with capri leggings and a light sweater.
Here's my suggestion when shopping for new clothes at Bohemian Farmgirl this fall. Buy a size larger than you normally would. Apply layers as listed above, and then by the time next summer rolls around your little one can wear the outfit simply as a dress.
As most of you know, I buy my fabrics one or two yards at a time. This way when you purchase a dress from me, you are buying something unique. This also means I constantly have new prints and colors to work with. I have stacks of new fabric ready to be transformed into dresses, including some lightweight corduroy in delicious jewel tone. Check out the events list on the right side of this blog to see where my travelling shop will be this fall. Then plan to come on by and see what's new. See you then!
